Dan Abrahams is an Edinburgh based composer, guitarist, double bassist, producer and educator. His distinct voice crosses folk, classical and jazz. His work Hope in the Dark, commissioned and premiered by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra was praised by The Scotsman, writing that it "...really stood out with its focused structure and confident writing...the stylish mix of blues and jazz with a nod to Scottish folk music in a beguiling violin solo was captivating." Having worked during his early twenties as an engineer in the field of renewable energy, he gradually pivoted towards full time music, where is compositional voice - lyrical and sweet, woven with intricacy - has garnered significant attention. His recent compositions include works for Calton Consort, Butter Quartet, RSNO and Red Note Ensemble . Dan is available for new commissions, as well as arranging and typesetting. ​
Dan composes, performs and records in a number of bands, including: Wayward Jane, The Foo Birds, Dowally, Bonzai Quartet and under his own name. He's also available for session work as a guitarist, bassist, arranger or producer. He has recorded and toured with a diverse array of artists from Nashville singer Rachel Baiman to Nigerian Afrobeat legend Etuk Ubong, and produced albums with musicians such as Sarah Irvine.

Dan also enjoys teaching and community music. He works with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra as part of their community learning programs. He taught for many years at the Scots Music Group, and visited Croatia with Nigel Osborne MBE to facilitate music therapy workshops for young people with trauma.
